This position is responsible for receiving requests for transportation, coordinating client trips, trip dispatching, maintaining records, and coordinating drivers and assignments.  This position requires the ability to follow instructions and apply acquired knowledge in responding to inquiries and requests to schedule service.  This position requires outstanding customer service skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, diplomatic and concise telephone and radio communication skills when dealing with the public and other employees, the ability to work under minimal supervision, the ability to coordinate demand for transportation with resources available to ensure economical and efficient operation.

Do you like to work with the public and drive?  If yes, then this position is for you!  Mason Transit Authority (MTA) is currently  hiring part-time, non-exempt Bus Drivers.  This position provides service and assistance to passengers, the public and other MTA team members.  Responsibilities include customer service; efficient and safe operation of vehicles under varying traffic and road conditions; properly collecting all authorized fares; and promoting and maintaining positive relationships with customers and MTA members.

 - This position plans, supervises and coordinates activities to monitor, evaluate, control and maintain the quality of scheduling, fixed-route, dial-a-ride, route deviated and special event transportation services provided to the riding public in accordance with established Agency standards; supervising and evaluating approximately 46 drivers; reviews and takes appropriate action regarding events, accident and incident reports, customer comments, employee attendance and other performance areas. Leads and/or participates in various process and project team committees.  The assignment of specific duties to Supervisors will vary depending on the Agency’s business needs, shift rotation and individuals’ expertise and skill sets.

General Employment Conditions

Drug-Free and Alcohol Free Workplace

Selected candidate must be able to comply with Mason Transit's Drug and Alcohol Policy, which includes federally mandated random drug and alcohol testing for safety-sentisive employees throughout employment. 

Motor Vehicle Driver's License 

If the position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's License and must maintain an acceptable dirivng record level throughout employment as monitored by periodic reviews of driving record. 

Commercial Driver's License 

If the position requires the operation of a commercial motor vehicle, selected candidate must possess or be able to obtain (within established time frame) a valid Commercial Driver's License (with appropriate classification and endorsements) and must be able to comply with the provisions of the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1988.

Criminal Background Check 

Selected candidates for all positions must be willing to submit to a criminal background investigation, the results of which must meet Mason Transit's hiring criteria.
